Bill Hunt

The Voice Of Gold

Bill Hunt began playing at a young age for church socials and dances. At the age of 13 he received his first guitar, a Gene Autry, which was won by selling Earl May seeds.

His childhood was spent in central Missouri and he moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in 1954, where he resided for 42 years and now resides in Lansing, Kansas. During that time he was the lead singer of several different bands in and around the tri-state area.

With his voice of gold he turned down his opportunity to record on a major label during the mid sixties due to marital dischord. That was followed by a hiatus from play for a period of 25 years.

His Hiatus ended when is son, Dustin Hunt, wanted to learn to play the guitar and sing. Bill then returned to the stage and once again his golden voice came to life. He has been instrumental in his son’s musical career.

Bill has an extensive repertoire of traditional country, gospel and bluegrass songs. He is a versatile Musician as he plays rhythm and lead guitar, lap steel, dobro, banjo, mandolin.

Not only does Bill have a voice of gold but he has endless flow of ink when it comes to song writing. He has been awarded several time for his works and is a member of the National Traditional Country Music Hall Of Fame.
